The collection contains form letters and other correspondence of Hench and Virginia Bedinger Michie Hench regarding the war; handbills, speeches, publications, and Hench's notes regarding the Charlottesville war effort, general publications and clippings on the war, and notes and speeches by Mrs. Hench. Of interest are a description of a bombing run to Cologne, a copy of an invasion speech delivered by George Smith Patton and a fund drive speech by Alexander Archer Vandegrift.
